- Whimsical Atmosphere with AWESOME Pub Grub!I'm not a food critic, so I do my best not to set expectations when I'm checking out a new place. I didn’t know what to expect when going, but I was not disappointed! Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at The Corner Pug, a restaurant that serves American and Irish traditional pub grub in a relaxing atmosphere. The walls are covered in whimsical pictures of pugs, which is honestly freakin’ adorable.. We tried a variety of things during our visit, including the house bread (hey bring this to you when you first get there. I love when restaurants do this!), irish nachos, shepherds pie, pulled pork mac and cheese, and carrot cake. The House bread was very soft inside with a harder crunchy outside, was served with butter. The Irish Nachos were one of my favorite dishes. The crispy wavy kettle chips were smothered in Beef & Sausage Chili, hot cherry peppers, jack-cheddar cheese, scallions, Pico di Gallo, and a side of sour cream. The flavors worked really well together and the dish wasn't too spicy. The shepherds pie was very tasty, but it needed some salting. However, it was still good after I salted it myself. The pulled pork mac and cheese was another highlight of the meal. The super creamy mac and cheese was topped with sweet pulled pork and crispy onion straws, making for a delicious combination. Finally the carrot cake, with three layers of amazingly moist cake with a classic cream cheese frosting. It was loaded with shredded carrots and raisins, and had a caramel sauce drizzle on top. While it was heavy on the spices and quite sweet, it was still a very tasty dessert. Overall, I enjoyed the food at The Corner Pug. While the shepherds pie could have used more salt, the flavors of the other dishes were on point. The presentation of the dishes was also nice. The only issue we had was that the fried onions on the Pulled Pork mac and cheese were originally missed by the kitchen staff, but our server noticed and amended the situation. The service was amazing, with our server being very attentive and taking good care of us. It's always a plus when the staff is friendly and helpful! I would definitely recommend The Corner Pug to others. The atmosphere was great, with pictures of pugs covering the walls, and the food was delicious overall. I'm already planning on going back to try their bar coffees, which I didn't get a chance to try during my first visit. Overall, my experience at The Corner Pug was awesome, and I would rate it 4.5/5 stars.
